Recent Advances in Pharmacotherapy for Cardiometabolic Disorders

Cardiometabolic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome, represent a major global health challenge and are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. These conditions share complex and interconnected pathophysiological mechanisms, including chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, insulin resistance, endothelial dysfunction, and metabolic imbalance. In recent years, advances in pharmacological research have led to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies targeting key molecular pathways involved in cardiometabolic dysfunction. Novel drug classes, biologics, and repurposed medications have expanded the therapeutic landscape, while emerging insights from pharmacogenomics and translational research are opening new perspectives for personalized medicine. Despite these advances, many patients remain insufficiently controlled, highlighting the need for continued research into safer, more effective, and more targeted pharmacotherapeutic approaches.rovide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers investigating novel therapeutic strategies in this rapidly evolving field. Particular attention will be given to studies exploring new pharmacological targets, innovative drug candidates, and improved therapeutic strategies aimed at preventing or treating cardiometabolic diseases and their complications. This Research Topic aims to bring together contributions from basic, translational, and clinical pharmacology that improve our understanding of drug mechanisms, therapeutic efficacy, and safety in cardiometabolic conditions. We also seek to encourage research integrating emerging approaches such as pharmacogenomics, precision medicine, and drug repurposing. By gathering diverse perspectives from experimental and clinical research, this collection intends to advance knowledge on how pharmacological interventions can more effectively address the complex and multifactorial nature of cardiometabolic diseases. This Research Topic welcomes contributions addressing pharmacological approaches for the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and related complications.Relevant themes include, but are not limited to:Novel pharmacological targets in cardiometabolic diseasesEmerging pharmacotherapies for diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disordersAnti-inflammatory and metabolic modulatorsPharmacogenomics and personalized pharmacotherapyDrug repurposing strategies for cardiometabolic diseasesNatural compounds and bioactive molecules with cardiometabolic effectsMechanisms of drug action in cardiometabolic pathologyTranslational pharmacology and preclinical disease modelsClinical pharmacology and therapeutic optimization in cardiometabolic patientsWe welcome Original Research Articles, Reviews, Mini-Reviews, Systematic Reviews, and Perspectives that provide new insights into pharmacological strategies targeting cardiometabolic diseases.
