Review the Potential of Imaging Biomarkers in the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Neuro-Oncology

Neuroimaging plays several fundamental roles in the management of animals with tumors of the nervous system, including diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic response assessment. Despite the demonstrated clinical utility and advantages of neuroimaging, numerous challenges remain that underscore the continuing need for neuroimaging methods that can improve diagnostic accuracy and non-invasively interrogate clinically relevant phenotypic and pathophysiologic aspects of nervous system neoplasms before and after treatment. The objective of this research topic is to highlight recent research that improves the capabilities of, expands applications for, or overcomes previously identified challenges of neuroimaging modalities and techniques for the diagnosis, treatment, or prognostication of animals with tumors affecting the nervous system. By contributing to the collective knowledge in the field, this research topic hopes to foster an informed approach to provision of neuro-oncological care, and improve outcomes in animals with cancers of the nervous system. This research topic is soliciting original research, methods, systematic review, or clinical trial articles relevant to the following broad thematic areas of neuro-oncology:1) Diagnostic accuracy studies;2) Image-guided neurosurgical applications;3) Innovations in functional, anatomic, or hybrid neuroimaging techniques;4) Neuroimaging theranostics;5) Novel imaging manifestations of nervous system tumors; and6) Radiomics Topic editors: John Henry Rossmeisl, Carina Strohmayer Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/78741/review-the-potential-of-imaging-biomarkers-in-the-diagnosis-and-prognosis-of-neuro-oncology
