Reviews in Climate-Resilient Agronomy

Frontiers in Agronomy is delighted to present the 'Reviews in' series of Research Topics. 'Reviews in' is a series being launched across Frontiers in Agronomy's sections which aims to publish high-quality review articles on key topics within the field. The goal of this series is to highlight recent advances across agronomic disciplines, whilst emphasising important directions and new possibilities for future inquiry. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion within the broader agronomy community and translate to best practice applications in research, industry, and policy settings. The Climate-Resilient Agronomy section covers innovative and sustainable agroecosystem management in response to climate change, spanning adaptation strategies, mitigation options, modelling of climate impacts on crop growth, and agronomic approaches that secure long-term environmental sustainability. As global agriculture faces rising temperatures, more frequent extreme events, and the dual pressure to cut greenhouse gas emissions while sustaining yields, the demand for rigorous, synthesised knowledge on climate-resilient practices has never been greater. Reviews in Climate-Resilient Agronomy brings together high-quality scholarly review articles that map the current state of the science, identify critical knowledge gaps, and chart directions for the development of resilient, low-emission, and resource-efficient cropping systems. The Reviews in Climate-Resilient Agronomy collection welcomes Review, Mini-Review, and Systematic Review articles on topics within the scope of the Climate-Resilient Agronomy section. Topics considered in scope include, but are not limited to:• climate impacts on crop growth and development• environmental role of natural and agricultural ecosystems• exploring the interaction between crops and changing environmental conditions• innovative practices to improve crop robustness, resilience, and sustainability under climate change• low greenhouse gas emission agronomic strategies• modeling studies on climate change impacts on crop growth and development, and related adaptation and mitigation strategies• new approaches to enhance crop resource use efficiencies (water, nutrients, radiation)• technological solutions to reduce the environmental impacts of cropping systems and support adaptation to extreme weather and climate conditions• role of climate conditions on crop biotic and abiotic stresses• agronomic strategies that promote long-term environmental sustainability, resource conservation, and ecosystem health.New articles will be visible in the collection as they are accepted for publication.
