Reviews in Pest Management

Frontiers in Agronomy is delighted to present the ‘Reviews in’ series of Research Topics. ‘Reviews in’ is a series being launched across Frontiers in Agronomy’s sections which aims to publish high-quality review articles on key topics within the field. The goal of this series is to highlight recent advances across agronomic disciplines, whilst emphasising important directions and new possibilities for future inquiry. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion within the broader agronomy community and translate to best practice applications in research, industry, and policy settings. The Pest Management section covers strategies and tools for controlling pest populations that impact the production of food and fibre crops, spanning biological, cultural, chemical, and biotechnological approaches. As global agriculture faces mounting pressure from evolving pest threats, resistance to control tools, and the need to reduce the environmental footprint of crop protection, the demand for rigorous, synthesised knowledge has never been greater. Reviews in Pest Management brings together high-quality scholarly review articles that map the current state of the science, identify critical knowledge gaps, and chart directions for the development of effective and sustainable pest management solutions. The Reviews in Pest Management collection welcomes Review, Mini-Review, and Systematic Review articles on topics within the scope of the Pest Management section. Topics considered in scope include:• biological control through the release of exotic or native natural enemies• cultivation practices aimed at mitigating pest populations• field applications of host plant resistance derived from traditional breeding or genetically modified plants• management of arthropods and other pests as vectors of plant pathogens• pest management products, including conventional pesticides, biopesticides, and behavior-modifying products (pheronomes, repellents/deterrents)• products with novel modes-of-action and/or novel delivery systems• resistance of pests to pest management products and other tools• RNAi-based products for pest management or other novel genetic means of population control• studies on nematodes, if they directly impact the management of insect and mite pests in horticultural and field crops.New articles will be visible in the collection as they are accepted for publication.
