Reviews in Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics: 2027

Pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics have emerged as key areas in personalized medicine, paving the way for tailored treatments based on individual genetic profiles. These fields focus on how genetic variation affects drug metabolism, efficacy, and safety, transforming treatment paradigms for complex diseases such as psychiatric disorders, cancers, cardiovascular conditions, chronic inflammatory diseases, degenerative diseases, and neurological disorders. Despite significant advancements, challenges remain in translating pharmacogenetic insights into routine clinical practice. Questions persist regarding implementation infrastructure, clinical utility, healthcare economics, and equitable integration across diverse populations. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive reviews and critical evaluations of current evidence.Building on the foundation of the previous volume, this second edition of the collection explores the ongoing integration of pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics in personalized medicine. In addition to evaluating genetic predictors of drug response across clinical specialties, Volume II places specific emphasis on clinical translation, health system integration, and stakeholder engagement. Key objectives are to synthesize current evidence on genetic markers, evaluate computational resources and clinical decision support systems, examine the cost-effectiveness of testing strategies, and assess the broader ethical, legal, and social implications of genomic medicine. The collection also aims to identify persistent knowledge gaps and highlight future research directions that facilitate clinical adoption. To gather deeper insights into the scientific and practical dimensions of personalized medicine, we welcome review articles and expert commentaries addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:• Genetic markers and treatment customization in psychiatric disorders• Advances in pharmacogenetic approaches for cancer therapies• Genetic predictors of drug efficacy, safety, and dosing in cardiovascular diseases• Pharmacogenomic strategies for managing chronic inflammatory diseases• Impact of genetic variability on treatments for degenerative and neurological disorders• Pharmacogenomics in underrepresented and diverse global populations• Global models and logistical challenges in pharmacogenomics implementation• Pharmacogenomics resources, computational tools, and clinical decision support for result interpretation• Patient and provider perspectives on pharmacogenomic testing and clinical communication• Cost-effectiveness and economic evaluations of pharmacogenomic testing strategies• Ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of pharmacogenomic testing in healthcareThe Reviews in Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics: 2027 collection welcomes full-length, mini, and systematic review papers. Perspective articles offering critical insights on clinical implementation, health technology assessment, and regulatory policy are also encouraged. New articles will be added to this collection as they are published. Studies and reviews concerning traditional, complementary, alternative, or herbal medicine fall outside the thematic scope of this collection and will therefore not be considered for inclusion. All manuscripts submitted to the collection must adhere to the journal’s editorial policies.
