Reviews in Postharvest Physiology, Management and Technology

Frontiers in Horticulture is delighted to present the 'Reviews in' series of Research Topics. 'Reviews in' is a series being launched across Frontiers in Horticulture's sections which aims to publish high-quality review articles on key topics within the field. The goal of this series is to highlight recent advances across horticultural disciplines, whilst emphasizing important directions and new possibilities for future inquiry. We anticipate the research presented will promote discussion within the broader horticulture community and translate to best practice applications in research, industry, and policy settings. The Postharvest Physiology, Management and Technology section covers the preservation and enhancement of fresh plant product quality across the entire value chain from harvest to consumption, spanning postharvest physiology, pathogen control, innovative measurement tools, microbiome dynamics, and loss and waste reduction. As global food systems face significant postharvest losses and growing consumer demand for safe, high-quality fresh produce, the need for rigorous, synthesised knowledge has never been greater. Reviews in Postharvest Physiology, Management and Technology brings together high-quality scholarly review articles that map the current state of the science, identify critical knowledge gaps, and chart directions for improving postharvest outcomes and reducing food waste. The Reviews in Postharvest Physiology, Management and Technology collection welcomes Review, Mini-Review, and Systematic Review articles on topics within the scope of the Postharvest Physiology, Management and Technology section. Topics considered in scope include, but are not limited to:• abiotic stress and its impact on fresh produce• application of innovative tools for quality measurement• evolution of microbiomes in postharvest stages• management of mycotoxin formation• minimization of loss and waste in fresh produce• postharvest pathogen quantification and control• postharvest physiology of harvested commodities• ripening and senescence processes• strategies for beneficial microorganism promotion.New articles will be visible in the collection as they are accepted for publication.
