Rising Stars in Carbon: 2026

We are delighted to present the Rising Stars in Carbon: 2026 Research Topic. This collection showcases high-quality work from international researchers in the early stages of their independent careers.The articles in this collection highlight the diversity of research across the breadth of carbon science and technology, spanning the synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials, carbon-based materials for energy and catalysis, carbon capture and utilization, sustainable and bio-based carbons, and computational approaches to carbon material design. New articles will be added to this collection as they are published.Please note that early-career researchers (within 10 years of PhD) or PhD students must be named as first authors, while collaboration with more experienced co-authors is encouraged.Our editorial board nominates authors who show outstanding potential to shape the future of the field.
