Robotic Evolution in Genitourinary Surgery Volume II: Emerging Platforms, AI Integration, and the Next Frontier in Robotic Urology
It has been just over a year since Volume I of “Robotic Evolution in Genitourinary Surgery” traced the field's journey from its earliest foundations to the standards of today, and robotic urology has already moved further still. New robotic platforms, single-port and multiport systems, and AI-assisted intraoperative tools are pushing the boundaries of what is achievable, taking on cases and offering levels of precision that were still emerging concepts when Volume I was published. The primary objective of this second volume is to pick up where Volume I left off: capturing the newest generation of robotic technology and the data-driven tools now shaping how surgeons plan, execute, and evaluate robotic procedures in genitourinary surgery.Building on where we left off: A key aim of this volume is to document the newest robotic platforms and the technological milestones achieved since Volume I, tracking how quickly the field's own “gold standard” continues to shift. The standard keeps moving: Another important goal is to capture how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven decision support are moving from concept to daily practice in the robotic operating room, redefining what “current standard” means today. The future is still being written by those doing the work: Robotic surgery's trajectory remains defined by the surgeons and researchers advancing it. This volume aims to once again offer a platform for those shaping what comes next, capturing emerging techniques and visions before they become tomorrow's standard of care.Robotic technology continues to expand its role across genitourinary surgery, from oncology to reconstruction and beyond. We welcome contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:• Emerging single-port and multiport robotic platforms and their comparative outcomes.• Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in surgical planning, intraoperative guidance, and outcome prediction.• Novel robotic approaches to complex or previously inoperable genitourinary pathologies.• Training, credentialing, and the learning curve for next-generation robotic systems.• Virtual and augmented reality in robotic surgical education and navigation. We invite submissions of original articles, comprehensive and systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and case series relevant to the scope and aims of this Research Topic.
