Showcasing FAIR² Data: Unlocking the science of Organizational Psychology

Scientific knowledge in organizational psychology is built on data—from employee surveys and psychometric assessments to longitudinal field studies, interventions, digital trace data, and multilevel organizational datasets. Yet, too often, these valuable resources remain difficult to find, hard to interpret outside the original research team, and challenging to reuse responsibly. For data to support cumulative, transparent, and impactful organizational science, it must be well-structured, ethically governed, machine-actionable, and richly documented with the context needed for meaningful reuse. To address this need, this Research Topic welcomes data submissions in scope for Frontiers in Organizational Psychology. Each data set submission, becomes 3 FAIR² discoverable, impactful and reusable outputs, including a Data Article publication:• A FAIR² Data Article which is a citable, peer-reviewed publication format that elevates a dataset to a first-class research output. Rather than focusing on a hypothesis-driven narrative, the article’s primary aim is to document the dataset itself—how it was generated, processed, quality-checked, and structured—so that other researchers can evaluate its provenance and reuse it appropriately.• A FAIR² Data Portal, interactive dataset exploration, and additional components intended to improve accessibility and understanding (for example, visual summaries and guided navigation).• A FAIR² Data Package which includes structured, AI ready metadata, Together, the article and portal are intended to make high-quality organizational datasets easier to discover, interpret, cite, and build upon—supporting open science, reproducibility, and scientific integrity while enabling faster progress on questions that matter for people at work.FAIR² Data Articles build on the FAIR principles—Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable—and extend them with additional expectations relevant to modern organizational research, including AI-readiness, ethical alignment, and contextual richness. In practice, FAIR² publishing is designed to help ensure that organizational psychology datasets are not only reusable “in theory,” but reusable in real research workflows, across labs, sectors, and methods. Each FAIR² Data Article is published alongside a FAIR² Data Portal, which can include structured metadata, interactive dataset exploration, and additional components intended to improve accessibility and understanding (for example, visual summaries and guided navigation). Together, the article and portal are intended to make high-quality organizational datasets easier to discover, interpret, cite, and build upon—supporting open science, reproducibility, and scientific integrity while enabling faster progress on questions that matter for people at work. What this Research Topic will includeThis Topic exclusively welcomes FAIR² Data Articles that present high-quality, reusable datasets relevant to organizational psychology, including (but not limited to):o Employee well-being and health (e.g., stress, burnout, engagement, occupational health interventions)o Individual assessment and psychometrics (e.g., validation datasets, item banks, measurement invariance resources)o Leadership and management (e.g., leadership development, leader–follower dynamics, decision-making)o Organizational culture and climate (e.g., safety climate, ethical climate, inclusion climate)o Diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g., representation, fairness perceptions, belonging, bias reduction interventions)o Organizational justice, ethics, and social responsibilityo Performance, learning, and development (e.g., training evaluation datasets, competency development)o Team dynamics and group behavior (e.g., collaboration, conflict, cohesion, team performance)o Work motivation and participationo Organizational innovation, forecasting, and technology at work (including AI-related workplace datasets)Why publish a FAIR² Data ArticleBy publishing your dataset as a FAIR² Data Article, you can:o Receive formal scholarly credit for producing high-value data (via a peer-reviewed, citable publication)o Provide the documentation and context needed for trustworthy reuse (methods, provenance, structure, licensing/permissions)o Enable responsible secondary analyses, replications, meta-science, and AI-enabled research using well-structured datao Contribute to more transparent and cumulative organizational psychology, with relevance to real-world challenges and the SDGs supported by the journal (e.g., health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, decent work).
