Sport Tourism, Leisure, and Behavior Change for Sustainable Destinations

With global sustainable development, sport tourism, as an important component of the tourism and leisure industry, plays a significant role in advancing sustainable development goals through its development models and practices. Understanding and shaping the behaviors of sport tourism participants, hosts, and communities is central to promoting the high-quality, sustainable development of the sector. By examining how behavior change, pro-environmental behaviors, and pro-social behaviors intersect with sport tourism development, this Research Topic can contribute to local economic development, enhance community well-being, protect natural and cultural resources, and strengthen the sustainability of destinations, thereby achieving a more coordinated balance among long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits.Previous sport tourism research has focused heavily on sport events, sport marketing, and related topics, while comparatively less attention has been paid to the behavioral and psychological dimensions of sport tourism and leisure, outdoor recreation, and community engagement.
