Information of interest in the field includes research describing musculoskeletal injuries in dogs and horses, including predisposing factors, mode of injury, diagnostics, therapy, and outcome assessment and describing the management of sporting dogs and horses, including conditioning and training. Frontiers in Veterinary Science published a first volume of 11 articles on the topic in 20201, a second volume of 19 articles in 20232, a third volume in 20243 with 16 articles, and a fourth volume in 2025 with 22 articles4. The goal of the Research Topic is to present evidence-based information relating to musculoskeletal injuries and diseases and their management, with a particular focus on sporting dogs and horses.Scope:- Surveys of musculoskeletal injuries affecting dogs and horses- Evaluation of diagnostic methods for musculoskeletal injuries, including medical imaging and biomarkers- Management of musculoskeletal injuries- Physical rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries- Outcome assessment after management of musculoskeletal injuriesReferences1.
