Stress and Reproduction in Fishes: Integrative Approaches for Aquaculture
Reproduction is a fundamental biological process underpinning sustainable aquaculture. However, fish reproductive performance is increasingly challenged by a range of environmental and physiological stressors, including climate change, pollutants and handling stress. The current Research Topic aims to bring together current advances in fish stress biology and reproductive endocrinology to better understand the complex interactions between stress responses and reproductive processes. The collection will provide an interdisciplinary platform for studies related to endocrine regulation, neuroendocrine mechanisms, environmental stress physiology, reproductive performance, aquatic toxicology, molecular and genomic approaches, and innovative strategies for stress mitigation in aquaculture.By integrating fundamental and applied research, this collection seeks to identify emerging challenges and opportunities for improving reproductive efficiency, resilience, and sustainability in aquaculture systems. The topic will be of interest to researchers working in reproductive endocrinology, physiology, aquaculture, fisheries science and environmental biology.Suggested Areas for contributorsNeuroendocrine control of reproductionEnvironmental stress and reproductive performanceStress endocrinology and HPI axis regulationClimate change impacts on fish reproductionEndocrine disruption in aquatic environmentMolecular and genomic mechanisms underlying reproductive stress adaptationSpecies-specific reproductive responses to stressorsStrategies for stress mitigation in aquaculture Topic editors: Irfan Ahmad Bhat, DR RUPAM SHARMA, Dr. Pravesh Kumar Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/82315/stress-and-reproduction-in-fishes-integrative-approaches-for-aquaculture
