Sustainable Agricultural Practices and Environment Protection Through Green Technology Innovations
The field of agricultural science is increasingly focusing on the application of green technologies to combat plant stress induced by both abiotic and biotic factors. In recent years, advancements such as biochar, nanobiochar, and biogenic nanoparticles have been utilized to improve soil fertility, water retention, and plant growth. These innovations also help in moderating the adverse effects of pollutants and heavy metals. Notably, green nanotechnology has played a pivotal role in the creation of nano-enabled fertilizers and pesticides, offering enhanced efficiency and environmental compatibility tailored to specific plant requirements. Despite the promising capabilities of these technologies, significant concerns remain regarding their long-term environmental effects, cost implications, and scalability. This Research Topic aims to thoroughly assess the efficacy and sustainability of green technologies within agricultural settings to ensure their responsible and effective implementation. The goal is to bridge the gap between experimental research and practical, real-world applications, addressing the challenges of technology transfer and adaptation in diverse agricultural environments. Key objectives include evaluating the performance of innovative green solutions under various agricultural stressors and understanding their socio-economic and environmental impacts. To gather further insights into the applications and impacts of green technologies in agriculture, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:• Development and application of biochar, nanobiochar, and biogenic nanoparticles• Case studies on the use of green nanotechnology in agriculture• Strategies for enhancing soil quality and plant resilience using green technologies• Assessment of the environmental and economic sustainability of green agricultural technologies• Policy implications and recommendations for scaling sustainable agricultural practicesContributions may include empirical studies, systematic reviews, theoretical models, and policy analyses.
