Sustainable Geopolymer Concrete and Advanced Construction Materials
Sustainable construction materials have attracted increasing attention due to the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions and promote the efficient utilization of industrial solid wastes. Geopolymer concrete, synthesized from precursors such as fly ash, slag, and waste ceramics, has emerged as a promising alternative to conventional Portland cement-based materials. These materials exhibit excellent mechanical performance, durability, and environmental benefits. In recent years, advanced construction materials, including fiber-reinforced and multi-component geopolymer systems, have been developed to further improve performance and broaden engineering applications. However, challenges remain in understanding the relationships between material design, microstructure evolution, and long-term performance under complex service conditions. This Research Topic aims to provide a comprehensive platform for the latest developments in sustainable geopolymer concrete and advanced construction materials. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: (i) mix design and multi-source solid waste utilization; (ii) mechanical properties and durability performance; (iii) fiber reinforcement and toughening mechanisms; (iv) microstructure evolution and phase transformation; (v) interface behavior and multi-scale optimization; and (vi) performance under extreme conditions such as high temperature, freeze–thaw cycles, and aggressive environments. Both experimental and numerical studies, as well as innovative engineering applications, are welcome. This Research Topic seeks to promote the development of high-performance, sustainable construction materials and facilitate their transition from laboratory research to practical engineering applications. This Research Topic welcomes high-quality original research articles, review papers, and short communications focusing on sustainable geopolymer concrete and advanced construction materials.
