The immune orchestra: the dysregulated immune system harmonizes to develop autoimmune diseases

The immune system maintains homeostasis by the symphony with immune modulators and immune cells. A breakdown in the immune orchestra tunes in the development of autoimmune diseases, where the dysregulated immune system erroneously attacks healthy cells and tissues. The genetic susceptibility interacting with environmental factors can raise a curtain for autoimmune orchestra. To adjust a cacophonous sound in autoimmune diseases, various therapeutic agents is developed as tuner. These immune modulator drugs inspire good response in patients with autoimmune diseases, however, some patients require further tuning. Thus, understanding the immune system at new findings offers to maintain the melodious immune orchestra. With the advancement of biomedical research, various treatments for patients with autoimmune diseases and also inflammatory diseases have been developed. However, the development of further therapeutic agents/methods is required for some diseases that can not be completely ameliorated. Thus, this Research Topic aim to elucidate the therapeutic and pathological role of cytokines/receptors, and signaling molecules in autoimmune diseases and also other inflammatory diseases for the development of therapeutic agents/methods. Because cytokine-receptor-signaling pathway conducts immune orchestra tunes in whole body and also local tissues. Furthermore, to enhance the understanding of current medical front, this Research Topic also requires the summary and opinion for the contribution of biomedical products and others in clinical phase, and also prospects. Submissions should prioritize clear implications for basic researchers and clinicians, and future research. Thus, this Research Topic aim to elucidate the therapeutic and pathological role of various immune regulators such as cytokines, immune cells, and microbiota in autoimmune diseases and also other inflammatory diseases for the development of therapeutic agents/methods.Furthermore, to enhance the understanding of current medical front, this Research Topic also requires the summary and opinion for the contribution of biomedical products and others in clinical phase, and also prospects. Submissions should prioritize clear implications for basic researchers and clinicians, and future research. This Research Topics welcomes original articles, comprehensive reviews and translational studies addressing the elucidation of the autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and others) and other inflammatory diseases (chronic kidney disease, lung fibrosis, and others). Topic of interests include, but not limited to; 1. The pathogenic roles of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines on autoimmunity.2. The regulation of signaling pathways on immune cells and various tissues to promote autoimmune disorders3. The contribution of fibrosis mediating tissue dysfunction4. The influence of microbiota on the systemic immune system, in the development of autoimmune diseases and inflammatory disease.5. Opinion, clinical trials and hypothesis about therapeutic agents/methods currently in use for autoimmune diseases and inflammatory diseases.
