The Role of Metabolic Syndrome and Disorders in Cardiovascular Disease, Volume III

Following the impactful contributions and sustained scientific engagement of our first two volumes (The Role of Metabolic Syndrome and Disorders in Cardiovascular Disease and The Role of Metabolic Syndrome and Disorders in Cardiovascular Disease, Volume II), we are pleased to announce the launch of Volume III of The Role of Metabolic Syndrome and Disorders in Cardiovascular Disease. The rising burden of metabolic syndrome and its profound implications for cardiovascular health remain at the forefront of global medical research and clinical concern.Metabolic syndrome is characterized by the coexistence of multiple interrelated risk factors—including central obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, and glucose intolerance—that synergistically increase the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and all-cause mortality. With its prevalence exceeding 40% in adults over the age of 50 in the United States and continuing to grow worldwide, it represents a complex and evolving challenge shaped by genetic, epigenetic, environmental, socioeconomic, and behavioral influences. At the core of this syndrome lies insulin resistance and visceral adiposity, often compounded by sedentary lifestyles, poor nutrition, and low-grade systemic inflammation. These mechanisms contribute to a cascade of metabolic and vascular dysfunction, including endothelial impairment, oxidative stress, cardiac remodeling, and dysfunction. Notably, emerging research continues to uncover the roles of gut microbiota, circadian rhythm disruption, endocrine modulators, and cellular senescence in the pathophysiology of metabolic syndrome. This third volume aims to extend and deepen our understanding of this multifaceted condition, focusing on emerging paradigms and translational insights. We welcome submissions addressing, but not limited to, the following key themes:• Novel biomarkers and imaging tools for early detection, phenotyping, and risk stratification,• Advances in molecular pathways, omics technologies, and systems biology approaches,• Precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, and innovative therapeutic interventions,• Impact of environmental, occupational, and psychosocial stressors on metabolic health,• Interdisciplinary strategies integrating cardiology, endocrinology, nutrition, and behavioral sciences,• Digital health, wearable technologies, and artificial intelligence in disease monitoring and management,• Cardiometabolic implications of bariatric and metabolic surgery,• Longitudinal and population-based studies exploring causality, prevention, and real-world outcomes. We encourage the submission of original research, reviews, meta-analyses, perspectives, and clinical case reports that contribute to unravelling the intricate relationships between metabolic syndrome, its comorbidities, and cardiovascular disease. Contributions from both basic and clinical science, as well as multidisciplinary and global health perspectives, are especially welcome.Through this expanded scope, we aim to catalyze a comprehensive and forward-looking discourse that will foster collaboration and innovation in this rapidly evolving field.
