Therapies and Technologies for Better Type 1 Diabetes Management
Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in type 1 diabetes management, driven by advances in diabetes technologies and emerging therapeutic approaches. Continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps, sensor - augmented systems, and closed-loop control systems have improved glycemic outcomes and reduced the burden of daily disease management. At the same time, new therapies, including disease-modifying approaches such as immunotherapies, are opening new possibilities for delaying disease progression, preserving beta-cell function, and improving long-term care.Despite these advances, further research is needed on real-world effectiveness, long-term outcomes, patient selection, education, accessibility, and reimbursement. This Research Topic welcomes work on new therapies, diabetes technologies, and practical approaches to improving type 1 diabetes management in children, adolescents, and young adults. We welcome submissions addressing, but not limited to: • New and emerging therapies for type 1 diabetes management• Immunotherapies and disease-modifying approaches, including Teplizumab• Insulin pumps and advanced insulin delivery systems• Continuous glucose monitoring• Sensor-augmented pumps and closed-loop control systems• Automated decision support systems and digital health tools• Telemedicine and remote diabetes care• Technology and therapy education for patients, families, and healthcare professionals• Real-world evidence, adherence, and long-term clinical outcomes• Access, implementation, and reimbursement of new therapies and technologiesAuthors are welcome to propose other relevant topics not included in this list.
