Translational Innovations in Gynecologic Oncology: Bridging Molecular Discoveries and Precision Therapeutics

Over the past decade, significant advances in molecular biology, genomics, immunology, and bioinformatics have reshaped our understanding of gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers. The identification of actionable molecular alterations, immune-related pathways, and tumour microenvironment dynamics has enabled the development of targeted therapies, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and biomarker-driven treatment strategies. Despite these advances, translating laboratory discoveries into effective clinical applications remains a major challenge. Heterogeneity, therapeutic resistance, and limited predictive biomarkers continue to hinder optimal patient selection and long-term outcomes. Therefore, strengthening the integration between preclinical research, translational studies, and clinical trials is crucial to accelerate innovation and improve patient survival and quality of life. This Research Topic aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and promote cutting-edge research in this rapidly evolving field. The goal is to gather high-quality contributions focused on emerging translational approaches in the management of gynaecologic cancers. We aim to highlight research that bridges molecular and biological insights with innovative therapeutic strategies, including novel drug targets, biomarker development, advanced preclinical models, and rational combination therapies. Particular attention will be given to studies addressing mechanisms of resistance, tumour–immune interactions, and precision medicine strategies tailored to specific molecular subtypes. We welcome multidisciplinary perspectives integrating medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, molecular biology, and immunology. By providing a dedicated platform for translational research, this Special Issue seeks to stimulate collaboration, support evidence-based innovation, and ultimately contribute to more effective and personalized treatment paradigms in gynecologic oncology. This Research Topic welcomes original research articles, preclinical and clinical studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses focused on translational approaches in gynecologic oncology. Submissions may address innovative therapeutic strategies, predictive and prognostic biomarkers, novel experimental models, early-phase clinical trials, and proof-of-concept studies. Manuscripts exploring the integration of multi-omics data, real-world evidence, and translational trial designs are particularly encouraged. Authors are expected to adhere to rigorous methodological standards and follow established reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, ARRIVE when applicable). Data transparency and reproducibility are strongly promoted; whenever possible, authors should provide access to datasets, analytical code, and detailed protocols. Submissions should clearly articulate their translational relevance and potential clinical impact, demonstrating how the findings may bridge the gap between bench research and patient care.
