Volume II: Methods, Tools and Algorithms in Genomic Analysis

Following the success of the first volume of Methods, Tools and Algorithms in Genomic Analysis, which highlighted crucial computational strategies for managing high-throughput genomic data, we are pleased to launch Volume II.The field of genomic analysis continues to evolve at an extraordinary pace. The widespread adoption of long-read sequencing, single-cell and spatial technologies, and multi-omics integration has generated genomic datasets of unprecedented scale and complexity. While these technologies offer deep insights into biological systems, they also present substantial computational hurdles.Current bottlenecks focus on scalability, computational efficiency, multi-modal data integration, and the need for standardized benchmarking. To address these persistent challenges, the scientific community must continuously refine algorithms, develop user-friendly tools, and establish robust, reproducible workflows. This second volume aims to showcase original research, methods, and comprehensive reviews that propel genomic analysis forward. We seek to highlight innovative computational approaches, software tools, and advanced algorithms that improve the speed, accuracy, and accessibility of genomic workflows. By fostering interdisciplinary contributions, this collection will address critical bottlenecks across all phases of genomic data processing—from raw sequence handling to high-level system-level modeling—with an emphasis on making analytical tools more robust and interoperable. The scope of this Research Topic encompasses both theoretical frameworks and practical software solutions for computational genomic analysis. We welcome submissions that present novel methodologies, benchmark existing tools, or introduce scalable pipelines. To expand on the foundation of the previous volume, we invite contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:o Machine learning and deep learning applications in genomic pattern recognition and variant callingo Algorithms and pipelines for single-cell, spatial, and long-read sequencing technologieso Advanced methods for integrating multi-omics and heterogeneous biological datasetso Scalable, reproducible, and cloud-native bioinformatics workflows and containerized pipelineso Benchmarking studies providing rigorous comparative evaluations of existing analytical toolso Computational approaches for identifying structural variations, copy number variations, and rare genomic alterationso Software and algorithms for functional annotation, phylogenomics, and comparative genomic analysiso Quality control, standardization, and bias-reduction methodologies in large-scale cohort studies Topic editors: Wenlin Yang, JIAN ZHANG, Hector Mora Montes, Chandrabose Selvaraj, Maryam Omrani Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/83776/volume-ii-methods-tools-and-algorithms-in-genomic-analysis
