Women in Membrane Science and Technology

Frontiers in Membrane Science and Technology is proud to launch the Research Topic Women in Membrane Science and Technology to celebrate International Women’s Day.Membrane science sits at the intersection of materials, transport phenomena, process design, and engineering—and it underpins progress toward major sustainability goals, from clean water and sanitation to affordable, clean energy. At the same time, women remain underrepresented in many senior and visible roles across STEM fields. This Research Topic aims to help address that imbalance by increasing the visibility of excellent membrane research led by women, and by creating a focused venue that highlights both scientific advances and the researchers driving them.In line with the journal’s mission and scope, this Research Topic welcomes contributions across synthetic membrane science and technology, bridging fundamental understanding with demonstrated practical relevance (note: manuscripts focused on biological membranes are out of scope for this journal). This Research Topic will welcome, for example:Original research, reviews, and perspectives led by women in membrane science and technologyStudies advancing membrane applications in energy, gas and vapor separations, and liquid separations (e.g., desalination, water treatment, resource recovery)Membrane materials, formation, and structure (including scale-up considerations and performance benchmarking against state-of-the-art)Membrane modules, processes, and process intensification, including hybrid systems and techno-economic or life-cycle perspectivesTransport, modeling, and simulation that deliver new mechanistic insight and link clearly to real-world membrane performanceWe strongly encourage submissions where the lead and/or corresponding author is a woman, and we particularly welcome contributions from early-career researchers, including collaborative papers with senior female colleagues and mentors. However, all submissions that fit the scope of the Research Topic will be considered regardless of gender, provided they meet the journal’s standards for rigor, novelty, and practical relevance. Topic editors: Patricia Luis, Juhana Jaafar, NALAN KABAY, Elena Tocci, Esther Bailón-García Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/79314/women-in-membrane-science-and-technology
