Women in Organizational Psychology
Gender equity in the workplace is a dynamic and evolving field within organizational psychology. Over recent decades, women have gained visibility and influence at all levels of the workforce, benefiting societies and economies worldwide. Yet, despite measurable progress, the path to full gender parity remains slow. The 2025 Global Gender Gap Index, for example, reveals persistent underrepresentation in high-productivity sectors and leadership positions. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has further widened gender disparities in participation, salary, career advancement, and caregiving burdens. While emergent theories, data, and organizational interventions offer promise, significant gaps remain, particularly in translating research into practice, understanding intersectional experiences, and achieving change in the face of deeply embedded norms and structures. This Research Topic has two main aims. First, it seeks to catalyze and showcase research led by researchers who self-identify as women in organizational psychology—advancing knowledge and real-world impact across the field while inspiring the next generation of scientists. In this spirit, we welcome:• General perspectives on a specific field of research inspired, initiated, or shaped by a woman• Articles celebrating outstanding female researchers and their contributions to organizational psychology• Organizational psychology studies led by womenSecond, it aims to highlight theoretical and empirical insights into gendered workplace experiences, illuminate organizational practices that promote fairness, wellbeing, and inclusion, and present actionable evidence for employers, policymakers, and practitioners. Particular attention is given to identifying effective strategies for dismantling barriers, designing equitable systems, and supporting women’s health, leadership, and career continuity. Central questions include: What structures and practices impede or enable gender parity at work? How can organizations foster inclusive climates where women thrive? Which interventions demonstrably improve wellbeing and advancement for women across roles and sectors? We strongly encourage submissions in which the lead and/or corresponding author self-identifies as a woman, and we recommend that early-career researchers collaborate with senior women colleagues. In exceptional cases, we may also consider submissions that do not meet these authorship criteria, provided the manuscript strongly aligns with the scope and aims below. To advance understanding of these issues, we invite theoretical, empirical, methodological, and applied contributions on (including, but not limited to):• Theoretical advancements in gender, work, and organizations• Careers and challenges of women in a gendered work world, including women working in male-dominated sectors (e.g., STEM, military, construction) and in female-dominated sectors (e.g., education, care)• Women and communities at work• Practices in selection, development, mentorship, and leadership• Work design, culture, DEI interventions, and responses to change• Wellbeing, health, work–life balance, and lifecycle considerations• Technology, hybrid work, and digital transformation• Innovations in measurement and methodology• Interventions, policies, and organizational impact• Comparative and cross-cultural studies• Intersectional experiences across identities and backgrounds Topic editors: Edna Rabenu, Vanessa Mertins, Paola Magnano Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/75385/women-in-organizational-psychology
