Women in Radiation Oncology: 2026 (Volume II)
This Research Topic represents the second volume of "Women in Radiation Oncology: 2021." Our community made significant strides as documented in the first volume here and we are eager to build on that success with this new collection. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. Therefore, Frontiers in Oncology is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women scientists, across all fields of Oncology. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of Radiation Oncology research and presents advances in theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems. Please note: to be considered for this collection, the first or last author should be a researcher who identifies as a woman. Manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics, computational analysis, or predictions of public databases which are not accompanied by validation (independent clinical or patient cohort, or biological validation in vitro or in vivo, which are not based on public databases) are not suitable for publication in this journal. Topic editors: Tina Jost, Ana Margarida Mota, Anja Derer, Carla Hajj, Brígida Ferreira Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/79485/women-in-radiation-oncology-2026-volume-ii
