Foams, Emulsions, and Foam-Templated Materials: Advances From EUFOAM 2026

Foams, emulsions, and cellular materials are at the crossroads of soft matter physics, chemistry, and materials science. Understanding their structure, stability, dynamics, and rheology is key to advancing applications that range from food and cosmetics to construction, energy, and biomedicine. This Research Topic welcomes original research and review articles exploring the fundamental and applied aspects of foams and closely related systems, including emulsions, foam-templated advanced materials, and cellular solids. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, foam and emulsion formation, stability and aging, interfacial phenomena, rheology and drainage, novel foaming and emulsification strategies, and the design of functional porous materials using foams as templates. This Research Topic is linked to the 16th European Conference on Foams, Emulsions and Applications (EUFOAM 2026), held July 6–8, 2026, in Sestri Levante, Italy. We welcome contributions from participants of this event, and encourage presenters to expand their conference work into full peer-reviewed articles.
