Abstract
Keywords
There was a mistake in Table 1 as published. The unit of “Yield” was incorrectly reported as “ton/ha”. The correct unit is “10 t/ha”. The reported mean of 1.823 is correct and corresponds to 18.23 t/ha. This correction does not affect the data, regression results, or conclusions of the article. The corrected Table 1 appears below.

① Unless otherwise stated, all plot-level outcome, input, and management variables refer to the household's largest apple plot. Per-hectare variables are calculated by dividing plot-level values, costs, or quantities by the bearing area of the largest plot. Village-level price variables are measured at the village-year level. ② The full two-year panel contains 992 household-year observations. Excellent fruit share and Top two-grade fruit share are observed for 954 observations; observations without apples reaching the corresponding quality grades, including cases with only defective grade fruit sales, are not used to calculate these grade-share variables. Top-grade fruit price and corresponding sales channels variables are observed for 715 observations because these variables are defined only for households that sold top-grade fruit. For households whose apples did not reach or were not sold as top-grade fruit, the corresponding top-grade price and channel variables are not applicable.
The final sentence of the final paragraph in Section 4.4, “Cost effects,” was duplicated.
A correction has been made to Section 4.4, “Cost effects,” in the final paragraph:
The duplicated final sentence, “Consequently, a considerable share of the additional revenue generated by commercial organic fertilizer use is absorbed by higher variable costs,” has been deleted.
The original version of this article has been updated.
