About the journal

Scope

Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience publishes multidisciplinary research investigating the biological, cellular, molecular, physiological, cognitive, and behavioral mechanisms associated with central nervous system aging and age-related neurological diseases. Its scope includes neurodegeneration, Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, Parkinson's disease and aging-related movement disorders, neuroinflammation, cellular senescence, cognitive aging, and mechanisms involved in preserving neuronal function. The journal welcomes basic, clinical, computational, and translational studies that advance understanding of brain aging and support the development of therapeutic strategies.

Aims

To advance scientific understanding of central nervous system aging, identify mechanisms underlying age-related neurological diseases, foster interdisciplinary and translational research, and promote discoveries that contribute to the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative conditions and the preservation of cognitive and neuronal function.

Editorial policies

Peer Review

Manuscripts are evaluated by appropriate editors and independent reviewers. Editorial decisions consider scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the selected specialty section.

Publication Ethics

Authors, editors, and reviewers must follow recognized standards of research integrity. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate submission, and undisclosed conflicts of interest are unacceptable.

Authorship

All listed authors must have made meaningful contributions to the research, approved the final manuscript, and agreed to its submission.

Human and Animal Research

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and approval requirements. Informed consent and appropriate protections must be documented when applicable.

Open Access and Licensing

The journal follows a gold open-access publishing model. Applicable copyright and Creative Commons licensing terms must be communicated clearly to authors.

Data Availability

Authors should provide a data availability statement and make supporting research data accessible when ethically and legally possible.

Corrections and Retractions

Corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions may be issued when necessary to preserve the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record.

Publication Fees

Article processing charges, applicable discounts, and institutional funding arrangements must be communicated transparently before publication.

Instructions for authors
