The journal welcomes high-quality research applying physical concepts, quantitative techniques, and theoretical or computational methods to fundamental questions in biology.
Topics within scope include:
Research should provide quantitative evidence, sound methodology, and a clear explanation of the biological significance of the physical mechanisms investigated. Interdisciplinary studies integrating biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and engineering are encouraged.
1. To advance the understanding of biological phenomena through physical principles and quantitative methods.
2. To promote experimental, theoretical, and computational research in biophysics.
3. To encourage the study of molecular structure, dynamics, interactions, and biological organization.
4. To investigate the physical mechanisms underlying membrane transport, mechanotransduction, and cellular behavior.
5. To promote interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers in biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and engineering.
6. To support rigorous, transparent, and reproducible scientific research.
7. To disseminate biophysical discoveries through an open-access publishing model.
